Ambon (Antara Maluku) - Various inter-faith Moluccas communities took part in "Christmas Carol" organized here by M-Tree held for two day ending Saturday.

The communities were distinguished from each other with the displays of different products of cultural arts.

The Christmas celebration organized by M-Tree was different from those of other Christian communities as it involved non Christian communities such as Muslims and Hindus.

A number of Muslim youths appeared on stage wearing Muslim clothing and taking part in Aleluya dance, and Hindus performed Balinese dance with the rhythm of Christmas song.

The crowds including hundreds of local Muslims showed that they enjoyed the performance.

The Christmas Carol celebration commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ was more like a concert of music with the theme of "Pujian My Love For Ambon".

Leading Indonesian singers from Ambon like John Tanamal, Joice Pupela and her husband Ridwan Hayat, Moses Tomasoa entertained the crowd.

Groups of young singers took turn to perform on stage sang popular Christmas songs.

The chairman of the committee of the Christmas Carol Johny Wattimena said the ceremony was supported by the Ambonesia Foundation, the city tourism office, and individual members of the M-Tree community aimed at strengthening solidarity among the various communities.

It was also intended to attract tourists to the region, Johny said.
