Ambon (Antara Maluku) - The University of Pattimura (Unpatti) in the eastern Indonesian Maluku provincial city of Ambon will establish cooperation with the Russian government to provide scholarships for Strata 1, 2, and 3 programs, an official stated.

"The cooperation plan was discussed during the visit of Director of Russian Cultural Center in Jakarta Vyacheslav Tuchnin to Unpatti last week," Unpatti`s International Cooperation spokesperson Yolanda Apituley remarked here on Friday.

She explained that cooperation with the Russian government will focus on providing scholarships to Unpatti students to take up S1, S2, and S3 programs in Russian universities.

According to Apituley, the Russian government provides some 100 scholarships for S1, S2, and S3 programs every year, of which 50 percent are granted to students in East Kalimantan and the rest can be availed by students from other regions in Indonesia.

However, Yolanda expressed hope that through the cooperation with the Russian government, more students from Unpatti would benefit by availing scholarships to study in Russian universities.
