Ambon, Maluku, July 28 (Antara) - The Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (Be Kraf) is expecting Ambon in Maluku province to become a world musical city, according to the criteria set up by the The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

"Be Kraf, along with relevant ministries and agencies, are ready to assist Ambon to become a world musical city," the Deputy of Intellectual Property Rights at Be Kraf, Ari Juliano Gema, said here on Thursday.

The launching of Ambon to become a world music city will be held on October 28, 2016 in Ambon.

"The Ambones musicians will also perform during a musical creativity week," he added.

According to Ari Juliano Gema, there are seven conditions defined by UNESCO that should be met by Ambon to become a world musical city, including the ability to train human resources, art performance buildings, recording studios and music schools.

Be Kraf is working to meet the conditions set by UNCESCO.

"Ambon city does not have a music school, at the moment. But, we are optimistic that Ambon will soon have a school that will train excellent musicians," Ari said.

He remarked that Be Kraf is developing a road map to reach all the requirements, along with the administration city of Ambon and other institutions.

Several cities in Indonesia, which have creative economies based on UNCESCO`s standards, include Bandung as a city of design and Pekalongan as a city of handicrafts.

It takes two or three years to become a world creative city, Ari said.

"People should also be involved in making every effort into a success, and to assure that Ambon becomes a world musical city," he added.
