Ambon (Antara Maluku) - The Siwalima Museum should be viewed as part of the history of the people of Maluku as it houses a collection of history and culture from the prehistoric times to the colonial era, stated a minister.

"The Siwalima Museum should be made into a fun place, so that its visitors will long to come back again," Culture, Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan stated during his visit to the museum on Sunday.

He called on the Maluku provincial administration and the management of the museum to make it an amusing and enjoyable place for the public and tourists who visit to study the history of the people of Maluku.

Baswedan also urged the local government to technologically improve the management of Siwalima museum, especially by providing web connectivity to internet devices.

"Improving the management of the museum by equipping it with internet devices and network connectivity is a big challenge the local government may face, but it will ease the people worldwide to access the data and collections of this museum," he noted.

The minister also called on the local education office to chalk out a program for the visit of students from each school in Maluku to the museum.

He said the students should be provided an opportunity to visit the Siwalima museum to study and gain a deeper understanding about their national and regional history.
