Ambon (Antara Maluku) - Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi has suspended Aru Islands deputy district head Umar Djabumona after he has been named a suspect in the embezzlement of district budget fund worth Rp4 billion in 2011.
Umar was suspended based on the home affairs minister`s decision number 132.81-4842 dated August 2, 2013, Maluku Governor Karel Albert Ralahalu said on Sunday.
The home affairs minister has also earlier suspended Aru Islands district head Theddy Tengko under his decision number SK No.131.81 - 4543 dated June 10, 2013 after he had been sentenced to jail for being involved in the embezzlement of budget funds worth Rp42.5 billion.
Umar was appointed to the post of Aru Islands deputy district head on September 23, 2010.
Hengky Hendradjaja who led a panel of judges had threatened to detain Umar if he did not show up at the court session suspended until August 12, 2013.
The suspect failed to attend a court session on alleged embezzlement of Rp4 billion in funds related to the implementation of quran reading contest (MTQ) in 2011.
Umar in his capacity as acting Aru Islands district head during the MTQ was ordered to attend the session suspended until August 12, 2013.
He was named a fugitive after he had ignored a second summons of the special crime intelligence directorate at the Maluku provincial police on June 17, 2013. He was captured in Jakarta on June 20, 2013.
